This will be THE SMITH STREET BAND’s last run of Australian shows before heading off on their first UK/ Europe adventure, followed by a eagerly awaited return to the USA.

On Sunday September 8th the party heads over west to The Reverence Hotel. Poison City‘s annual Weekender fest is back again for 2013! Part music festival, part punk-rock family reunion, the 3 day event converges on Melbourne every September to celebrate friendship, great bands and the thriving music community that Poison City has become. This year The Weekender takes over the John Curtin Hotel on Friday September 6th, Corner Hotel on Saturday September 7th and The Reverence Hotel on Sunday September 8th.

Headlining the festivities in 2013 is beloved Melbourne foursome The Smith Street Band. Stalwarts of The Weekender fest, this year’s headline performance will be their last in Australia for while as they gear up for some serious overseas touring immediately after. The Smith Street Band will be joined by very special international guests, Joyce Manor (USA), Cheap Girls (USA) and Cory Branan (USA), all making their first, eagerly awaited visit down under.

The line-up also features two legends of Australia’s punk/ indie rock scene, Blueline Medic (playing their only show for 2013) and The Nation Blue (Launching the LP re-issue of ‘A Blueprint For Modern Noise’), along with Luca Brasi, Hoodlum Shouts, White Walls, Lincoln Le Fevre, Arrows, The Bennies, Deep Heat, Milhouse (Last Show!), Grim Fandango, Jen Buxton, Infinite Void, Clowns, Postblue, Apart From This and Pinch Hitter - with more acts still to be announced!

Full line-ups for each venue will be announced in coming days and tickets go on sale Friday May 10th from Poison City Shop/ E-Store and Corner Hotel Box Office. Once again there will be a limited Early Bird allocation of 3-Day Weekender Passes, giving access to all shows at a discounted rate.

The 12 tracks are set to be remastered at West West Side, NY for a double LP due out late August on Poison City Records. “Albums as intense and uncompromising as ‘Blueprint…..’ often take years to fully digest and appreciate. Emerging from Chicago’s DIY scene in 2006, Daylight Robbery’s sound blends elements of late 70′s punk with dark, angular surf guitar and infectious male/ female vocal interplay. Following two full length albums (‘Through The Confusion‘ and ‘Ecstatic Vision‘) numerous EPs and split releases, the trio recently recorded new tracks for the ‘Distant Shores’ 7″, set for release July 1st via Poison City and US label Dirt Cult.

Kicking off July 5th, Daylight Robbery’s Australian Tour hits Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Brisbane, Newcastle and Sydney, teaming up with the likes of Straightjacket Nation, Infinite Void, Deaf Wish, White Walls, No Action and Deep Heat along the way.

For Poison City, RSD has always been a chance to celebrate everything great about our music community – the bands/ artists and the awesome people who support our label and shop all year round.

This year our official RSD release is a Split 7″ between WHITE WALLS and DEEP HEAT – both bands delivering 2 brand new tracks. We have a limited edition Electric Blue w/ Silver Splatter coloured vinyl version that will only be available this Saturday from Poison City Shop and select indie stores (Tym Guitars / Resist Records / Clarity / Beatdisc / Kill The Music / Landspeed / Polyester..)

We also have a special edition of THE SMITH STREET BAND’s ‘No One Gets Lost Anymore’ LP – featuring reinterpreted artwork by Aaron Coping and Annie Walter.
